If you commit to doing 20 minutes of Pilates every day, for a whole
month, you can expect to see evident changes in your body composition,
body weight and physical shape. The term ‘weight’ is very dependent on
fat versus muscle. This means that while you may not lose weight on the
scales with Pilates, you will turn some of your stored fat into lean muscle.
The problem with a general scale is that muscle weighs more than fat but
it takes up the same amount of space. This means you could weigh more
than before you started, but your waist will be slimmer, the muscles in
your arms will be more toned, and your glutes will be looking good.


If you want to get technical, the best way to predict your weight loss in a
month is to wear a heart rate monitor when working out. This will help
you to predict how many calories you burn in each session. The average
calorie loss in one Pilates session varies greatly depending on gender,
weight and how hard you are pushing yourself. It is estimated that the
average person burns between 200 – 400 calories per hour of Pilates.


This means that if you practice Pilates for 30 days straight, you will lose a
significant amount of weight and gain a healthy amount of muscle in just
